SPOTLIGHT

⯈ On July 7, Battlefords RCMP officers were conducting proactive patrols in North Battleford. A traffic stop was initiated, which led to four individuals being arrested for breaching court-ordered conditions. Items seized in the vehicle included a sawed-off firearm, bear spray, a knife, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Full release here.

⯈ On July 22, the Canadian Centre for Justice and Community Safety Statistics reported on the 2025 Crime Severity Index (CSI). The CSI assesses communities based on violent offences, non-violent offences, and the overall CSI (all offences combined) which factors in both volume and severity of crimes. For 2025, the Canadian CSI is 75.01 and the Saskatchewan CSI is 146.64.

⯈ On July 29, the Battlefords RCMP detachment had one of the business nights this summer thus far. A glimpse into the night showed that officers responded to a total of 60 calls for service – some of the calls included, but not limited to: six assaults, one assault with a weapon, three vehicle thefts, 17 reports of disturbing the peace and mischief, and one missing person, who has since been located safe. Full release here.

⯈ Investigators are renewing their appeal for information in Ashley Morin’s disappearance – who was last seen in North Battleford 8 years ago. Loyalties, relationships, and circumstances can change over time. Anyone with information, or who may have been told something about what happened to Ashley, is urged to come forward – as even a single conversation could provide the breakthrough needed to bring answers to her family. Anyone with information is asked to call the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Historical Case Unit at 639-625-3156, 310-RCMP (7267), or their local police department. Full release here.

⯈ On July 9, the Battlefords RCMP welcomed the public to its rescheduled Police Week barbecue, providing residents with an opportunity to meet officers, ask questions and connect in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Attendees enjoyed hamburgers and a live drone demonstration, highlighting some of the tools used by the RCMP.

⯈ At the Sweetgrass Traditional Pow Wow on July 14, Mayor Hawtin, Chief Whitecalf, and Cpl. Brewer are pictured together – three female leaders whose dedication and leadership help connect the community and strengthen partnerships.

⯈ On July 26, the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs hosted the 2026 Tony Cote Summer Games. Cst. Park and Bounty the police dog joined Cpl. Bell and Cst. O’Hara on Murray Lake where the canoe and kayak events took place. Bounty and the officers were there to ensure the safety of the athletes by keeping the motorized watercrafts away from the races.
