Big River RCMP: male wanted after assault, firearm discharge

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team and Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team arrested Kerry Lewis on Big River First Nation on August 10.

He is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on August 13.

Background:

Big River RCMP are asking the public for help in locating a male suspect in relation to an assault and firearm discharge. 

On August 5, 2026 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Big River RCMP received a report of an assault on Big River First Nation. 

Investigation determined a group of individuals in a vehicle stopped at a residence on Big River First Nation. An adult male from the vehicle assaulted an individual in the residence and threatened them with a firearm. The firearm was discharged, but did not strike anyone. The suspect with the firearm fled on foot, while the other individuals in the vehicle drove away. 

A male victim from the residence was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life threatening in nature. 

A short time later, officers located the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle’s occupants were arrested and later released without charge. The adult male with the firearm was not located in the vehicle. 

As a result of continued investigation, 27-year-old Kerry Lewis from Lloydminster has been charged with:

• one count, breaking and entering with intent, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
• one count, fail to comply, Section 145(5), Criminal Code;
• one count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
• three counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and
• one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Kerry Lewis. Big River RCMP are asking the public for help in locating him. 

Kerry Lewis is described as:

• Height: 5’9”
• Weight: 141 lbs
• Eye colour: brown
• Hair colour and style: black, short
• Other descriptors: nose ring
