Sandy Bay RCMP located and charged a wanted male who was smashing vehicle windows, including a police vehicle outside the Sandy Bay detachment.

On August 22, 2026, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Sandy Bay RCMP officers heard loud banging coming from outside their detachment.

In the parking lot of the Sandy Bay detachment, officers observed a male smashing the windows of a police vehicle with a metal bar.

Police officers arrested the male on scene without incident.

Further police investigation determined the male was involved in a separate incident in Sandy Bay earlier that evening, during which the windows of another vehicle were damaged.

The male was also wanted on warrant out of Flin Flon, Manitoba, for failing to appear in court.

As a result of police investigation, 35-year-old Manny Bear, from Sandy Bay, has been charged with:

  • one count, mischief over $5000, Section 430(3), Criminal Code;
  • one count, mischief under $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; and
  • three counts, breach of probation, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code.

Manny Bear appeared in court in Sandy Bay on August 24, 2026.
