Saskatchewan RCMP: increased police presence in Keeseekoose First Nation

On August 30, 2026 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Kamsack RCMP received a report of a suspicious armed male on Keeseekoose First Nation.

Investigation determined a male entered a property, injured a dog, then left on foot. He went into a nearby residence. 

Officers approached the residence and told the male he was under arrest. He initially refused to exit it. With the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team, the male was later arrested. 

As a result of continued investigation, 26-year-old Juaquin Quewezance from Kamsack is charged with:

- one count, cause injury to an animal, Section 445(1)(a), Criminal Code;

- three counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;

- two counts, mischief under $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code;

- one count, resist arrest, Section 129(a), Criminal Code; and

- one count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code.

He has been remanded into custody until his next scheduled appearance in court in Kamsack on September 1 (Information #90598265).

The dog is recovering from its injuries.
