Rosthern RCMP investigating fatal collision

On September 12, 2026 at approximately 10:10 p.m., Rosthern RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision near Hepburn, SK. The collision occurred on Highway #12, north of the Highway #312 intersection.

Investigation determined a truck and SUV collided. The driver of the SUV was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as a 16-year-old female from Shellbrook, SK. Her family has been notified.

A passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature. He was also arrested by Rosthern RCMP

As a result of investigation, 22-year-old Riley Farthing from Blaine Lake, SK is charged with one count, operation while impaired of motor vehicle causing death, Section 320.14(3), Criminal Code.

Riley Farthing appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on September 14, 2026 (Information #90592206).

Rosthern RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
