Loon Lake RCMP lay assault with weapon charges following altercation

On September 18 around 1:00 p.m., Loon Lake RCMP received a report of a stabbing at a house on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation which occurred during an altercation. The injured adult male was transported to hospital for treatment of what were described as serious injuries. 

As a result of investigation by Loon Lake RCMP, RCMP Serious Crimes Unit in Battlefords, Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services and Meadow Lake RCMP, an adult male was arrested without incident at another house on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation. He also required medical treatment before being released into police custody.

20-year-old DJ Blueeyes of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is charged with: 

• 1 count, assault with a weapon, section 267(a) Criminal Code;
• 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88 Criminal Code;
• 1 count, failure to comply with a probation order, section 733.1(1) Criminal Code;
