Onion Lake RCMP: two adult males charged for fraud over $5,000

On March 12, 2026, the Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of misappropriation of funds intended for Onion Lake Cree Nation. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Central District General Investigation Section launched an investigation alongside the Onion Lake RCMP detachment. Investigation determined that two adult males, over a four-year period, allegedly requested and received payments from landholders on Onion Lake Cree Nation in an unlawful manner.

As a result of this investigation, 67-year-old Tommy Whitstone and 54-year-old Richard Stanley from Onion Lake, SK have both been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000, Section 380(1), Criminal Code. 

Both will make their first court appearance in Onion Lake on November 25th, 2026.

Generally, the Saskatchewan RCMP does not release the names of victims of crime.
