A man has been charged after an investigation into a series of break-ins at industrial sites in the Leader RCMP detachment area.
Between September and October 2026, Leader RCMP received multiple reports of break-ins to rural industrial sites in their detachment area. Tools and copper wire were among the items reported as stolen in the break-ins.
Leader RCMP investigated, including gathering evidence at each scene.
On October 8, 2026, Medicine Hat Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence on Redwood Place SE in Medicine Hat, in relation to an ongoing investigation. They seized a large amount of copper wire and other items, and two people were arrested.
Through collaborative investigation, it was determined one of the arrested individuals was connected to break-ins in the Leader RCMP detachment area.
48-year-old Brian Aske from Medicine Hat is charged with:
- two counts, break and enter and commit theft, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
- two counts, theft under $5,000, Section 334(b), Criminal Code;
- one count, mischief over $5,000, Section 430(3), Criminal Code;
- three counts, mischief under $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code.
Brian Aske is currently remanded into custody in Alberta for charges laid in Alberta. Court details for his Saskatchewan charges are pending.
