Carrot River RCMP arrested and charged an adult male with assault after he hit an occupied police vehicle.
On October 22, 2026 at approximately 3:25 p.m., Carrot River RCMP observed a truck speeding on Highway #23 towards Carrot River. The truck proceeded into Carrot River and passed through a crosswalk where children were present. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop.
The truck initially stopped for police before it reversed into the occupied police vehicle. The driver turned the truck around, exited and started walking away on foot.
When approached by officers, the driver became agitated. A Conducted Energy Weapon was used after the man resisted arrest and tried to escape police custody. Further investigation determined the man was impaired. He was assessed by medical personnel as a precaution and released back into police custody. None of the officers involved reported any injuries and no children were hurt.
