Saskatchewan RCMP: Is your community interested in starting a Community Cadet Corps?

Saskatchewan RCMP Indigenous Policing Services is looking to partner with Indigenous and Métis communities to establish Cadet Corps programs.
The program is similar to Army, Air Force and Navy Cadets, with an emphasis on Indigenous content. It's designed to provide youth between the ages of 12 and 18 with the knowledge and skills required to build a positive future for both themselves and their communities. This is accomplished through group exercises that teach responsibility, discipline, and cultural awareness.
Each community can tailor the program to make it their own by adding local culture and teachings as they see fit. Saskatchewan RCMP Indigenous Policing Services will provide the community with the basis of the program, the community will run it with the assistance from their local RCMP detachment. A Community Cadet Coordinator will assist with setup, training and may participate in other events if resources are available.
Who can join?
Any youth, Indigenous or not, aged 12 to 18 years who is attending school on a full-time basis. Persons over the age of 18 may be considered as a casual volunteer or a cadet leader.
Drill and deportment
The cadets will learn many valuable skills including discipline and teamwork while also building up self-esteem and confidence.
Fitness and education
The physical and mental benefits of fitness to young people are many. During the education portion, we encourage each community to integrate local culture and teach youth relevant specific skills.
