The committee
Each year, the National Youth Advisory Committee (NYAC) brings together a diverse group of up to 80 youth from across Canada. We're proud to include voices from every province and territory, each offering unique perspectives that enrich the RCMP's understanding of youth experiences.
Through open dialogue on key issues affecting their communities, committee members provide an essential youth lens that helps shape RCMP programs, resources, and strategies. Their insights also play a crucial role in developing educational materials that reflect the real needs and realities of young people today.
Committee members share their insights on important and relevant topics such as:
- reconciliation
- bullying and cyberbullying
- online safety
- transportation safety, including impaired driving
- substance use, including cannabis and vaping
- mental health and youth empowerment
- healthy relationships and sexual consent
- diversity and inclusion
National Youth Advisory Committee members help the RCMP better understand, support and connect with youth by talking about the ways they want to be engaged. National Youth Advisory Committee members learn tools for community engagement, hear about volunteer opportunities, and connect with experts and RCMP members.
How it works
The National Youth Advisory Committee members meet on moderated, private online forums to discuss youth trends, RCMP programs and resources, as well as youth crime and victimization issues.
This commitment requires approximately two to four online hours per month, from October to June.
Why youth should get involved

What past members have to say
Being part of the National Youth Advisory Committee has been an enlightening and meaningful experience which I recommend for other youth who want to expand their knowledge. It's an exciting way for youth to share their knowledge on a variety of topics while learning from insightful guest speakers. Each survey and discussion inspire me to research topics I might not have considered reflecting on otherwise, and I am very thankful for these opportunities.
