Charges laid following reports of weapon in restaurant on Main Street

On April 29, 2025, the RCMP responded to reports of a male with a weapon at a restaurant on Main Street, Whitehorse. It was reported that the male, later identified as Mr. Gage Harvey, had shown a staff member a gun and then went into the restaurant’s bathroom with it.

All staff and patrons were cleared from the restaurant and RCMP attended the scene and arrested Harvey without further incident. Upon search of Harvey’s belonging, officers identified a replica Glock BB gun.

Harvey was charged with:

  • Mischief Under $5000, Sec 430 (4) of the Criminal Code;
  • Carrying a concealed weapon, Sec 90(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Sec 88 (1) of the Criminal Code.

His first court appearance is July 2nd, 2025, in Whitehorse.

The Whitehorse RCMP want to thank the public for their cooperation during the evacuation and operational response to this incident. It can be imperative that the public avoids areas when there is heavy police presence.
