Whitehorse RCMP responded to a report of a robbery involving a firearm at a local off‑sale business on January 30, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Police were told that a male had pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at staff inside the business before leaving the area. Officers quickly located the suspect, and a high‑risk arrest was conducted without incident.

The firearm was later located at a residence and was determined to be an air soft gun. While the weapon was not a real firearm, it was realistic in appearance.

Kadynce Smith, 18-years old, has been charged with Robbery, Pointing a Firearm, and Breaching his Undertaking conditions.

Smith was held in custody for a bail hearing the following morning and was remanded into custody until February 2, 2026. His court matter was subsequently adjourned to February 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
