Yukon RCMP has seized two separate quantities of illicit drugs following incidents on February 13, 2026.
On the afternoon of February 13, police seized a package containing approximately one kilogram of what is believed to be cocaine. The package was identified and secured before reaching its intended destination. Following further investigation, the RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance from the Whitehorse Detachment, arrested and charged Lucy Jacobson, 40 years old, of Whitehorse with trafficking in a controlled substance.
Ms. Jacobson was held in custody for a court appearance and is scheduled to return to court on February 17, 2026, for a bail hearing.
Later that same day, during the evening hours, an off‑duty RCMP officer located approximately four ounces of what is believed to be crack cocaine in a wooded area in Whitehorse. The suspected drugs were seized and turned over to investigators. The RCMP would like to remind the public not to touch or move any suspicious packages found outdoors or in public areas. Items tied to the drug trade can risk potential exposure to dangerous substances. If you encounter something that seems out of place or concerning, please keep a safe distance and report it immediately to police.
Police are continuing to investigate. It is not believed that the two incidents are directly related.
If someone misplaced or has information about the four ounces of crack cocaine in the woods, the Whitehorse RCMP would be happy to speak with them. They are welcome to identify themselves at any Yukon detachment at their earliest convenience.
Anyone with additional information related to either file is asked to contact the Crime Reduction Unit at 867‑667-5555. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑TIPS (8477).
