Whitehorse RCMP is providing an update regarding the assault with a weapon that occurred on the afternoon of March 8, 2026, at Mount Sima Ski Hill.
The injured individual, a 19‑year‑old man from Whitehorse, was transported to Whitehorse General Hospital with a non‑life‑threatening injury.
On March 8, while conducting the investigation, police temporarily stopped vehicle traffic leaving the ski area to identify potential witnesses and gather any available information that may assist with the case.
At 4:47pm, officers arrested a 16‑year‑old male, also a Whitehorse resident, at the Mount Sima Ski Hill. He was held in custody and appears in court today on a charge of aggravated assault.
Police continue to believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no risk to the public. There is no connection to the Arctic Winter Games or any participating athletes.
