Yukon RCMP provide update on September 9, 2025, Whitehorse collision investigation

Whitehorse Detachment’s General Investigation Section (GIS) has concluded their investigation into a two-vehicle collision that occurred on September 9, 2025, on the Alaska Highway at the intersection of Kathleen Road near the Crestview subdivision. 

In the collision, a Pacific Northwest (PNW) Freight Systems truck struck a City of Whitehorse passenger bus. The collision resulted in the death of Isaiah Brodhagen, a passenger in the PNW truck. There were passengers on the City of Whitehorse bus at the time of the collision, with one of the passengers suffering minor injuries. 

The Yukon RCMP’s thoughts remain with the family and friends of Isaiah Brodhagen.

As a result of the investigation, Larry Chichak of Whitehorse has been charged with Careless Driving, Failing to Remain in a Designated Lane and Driving Without a Seatbelt under the Territorial Motor Vehicle Act

Larry Chichak has been summoned to court and will make his first appearance on April 21, 2026, in Whitehorse. As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released relating to the investigation.
