Ross River RCMP investigating suspicious incident involving child

Ross River RCMP is notifying the public of an incident that occurred in Ross River involving a child. 

On July 22, 2026, at approximately 5:21 p.m., Ross River Detachment received a report of an incident that occurred approximately twenty minutes earlier in the area of Kaska Road. The child was playing outside a residence when they were approached by an unknown adult male. The man allegedly spoke to the child and then grabbed the child's hand or arm. The child ran away and reported the incident to their parent.

Police responded immediately and are actively investigating.  Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Kaska Road around the time of the incident, or who may have information that could assist investigators, to contact Ross River Detachment. Investigators are asking residents in Ross River who may have captured dash camera or security camera footage, including doorbell camera video, to notify police.

The male was initially described as wearing all black clothing.  

This incident serves as an important reminder to talk with children about personal safety and the importance of telling a trusted adult about any interaction that makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
