One person charged following a Yukon Crime Reduction Unit drug trafficking investigation

The Yukon RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) has charged one man from British Columbia following an investigation into suspected drug trafficking in Whitehorse.

On August 27, 2026, CRU members were involved in an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking in Whitehorse. With the assistance of Whitehorse RCMP and the M Division Critical Incident Program, a vehicle carrying the suspect was stopped in the Porter Creek neighbourhood. Kennedy George, also known as CJ Brown, 31, of Burnaby, B.C. was arrested. He was subsequently charged with:

Two counts of Possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking;

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. 

Upon George’s arrest he was found in possession of more than 80 grams of believed crack cocaine and more than $3,000 in cash. 

A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was obtained and executed at a residence in the Whistle Bend neighbourhood. During that search, police seized approximately 2.7kg of believed cocaine, 500 grams of illicit cannabis, and more than $150,000 in cash. 

George was also arrested for a separate investigation where he was suspected of drug trafficking on January 30, 2026. As a result of that investigation, he has been charged with Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. 

George was held in custody with his next court appearance scheduled for September 16 in Whitehorse.

The investigation remains ongoing and supports M Division’s organized crime enforcement priority by targeting and disrupting drug trafficking in Yukon communities.
