The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is conducting an independent external investigation into an incident involving a Whitehorse RCMP member.
The incident was reported to M Division by a third-party regarding the actions of an RCMP member who responded to a call for service at 405 Alexander Street, known as the Whitehorse Emergency Shelter. A recommendation was made to the Yukon Department of Justice for ASIRT to conduct an independent external investigation. Following the recommendation, the Yukon Department of Justice requested ASIRT to investigate, and ASIRT is now leading the investigation.
On August 11, 2026, the officer responded to a report of an unwanted, intoxicated woman at the shelter. The interaction that followed resulted in the ASIRT investigation.
The Yukon RCMP is committed to transparency and accountability in the communities it serves. ASIRT will independently investigate the incident and determine the circumstances surrounding it.
As the matter is now under investigation by ASIRT, Yukon RCMP cannot provide further information at this time. Media inquiries should be directed to ASIRT.
