Lac La Biche RCMP would like to inform the public that the driver of the vehicle, as well as the potential victim, have contacted the detachment to inform them that there was no abduction. As per their report, the passenger was pretending to be abducted by the driver.

Lac La Biche RCMP would like to thank the members of the public who called the incident in as RCMP had the information quickly and were able to respond and deploy the necessary resources in a timely manner, something that would have been crucial in an abduction case. Furthermore, RCMP reminds the public that these kind of practical jokes can cause panic in the public or even lower the chance of people calling the incident in, believing it is just another prank.
