Wetaskiwin RCMP lay charges for trafficking fentanyl

On June 25, 2025, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit initiated an investigation into an individual suspected of trafficking fentanyl in the Wetaskiwin area. The investigation involved multiple RCMP investigative units and resulted in Wetaskiwin RCMP executing a search warrant on Aug. 14, 2025, at a property in Edmonton.
With the assistance of the EPS Tactical Unit, the search of the premises resulted in the seizure of 68 grams of suspected fentanyl, 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of suspected cocaine, 9 grams of suspected psilocybin, scales, baggies, and Canadian currency.
A 40-year-old individual, a resident of Edmonton, was charged with the following:
- 2 counts of Trafficking fentanyl
- 3 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
- 1 count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
The individual has a previous conviction for trafficking drugs.
The individual was taken before a justice of the peace and released for a future court.
