Olds RCMP seize illicit drugs, firearms, and Canadian currency during traffic stop

Mountain View County, Alta – On Nov. 27, 2025, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Olds RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver swerving on Highway 2, north of Highway 582. Officers responded to the area and located a white dodge pickup in the ditch. The driver was detained for an impaired investigation.

During the vehicle seizure, officers located a bag with suspected cocaine, as well as scales and Canadian currency. Incidental to arrest, a concealed loaded firearm was located on the driver.

A 27-year-old, resident of Calgary, has been charged with the following offences:

• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
• Careless use of a firearm
• Carry concealed weapon
• Possess restricted firearm without licence
• Knowingly possess weapon without licence
• Have firearm in motor vehicle
• Possess loaded restricted firearm
• Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking

Following judicial hearing, the individual was remanded into custody to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Dec. 1, 2025.
