Killam/Forestburg RCMP makes arrest in child sexual assault investigation

Killam, Alta. – On Sept. 3, 2025, Killam/Forestburg RCMP received a report of sexual interference, by a 39-year-old man, involving a 14-year-old girl. An investigation was conducted, by Viking RCMP with assistance from Alberta RCMP Eastern Alberta District General Investigation Section. After a detailed investigation a search warrant was executed and the suspect was arrested on Nov. 21, 2025. The investigation revealed the initial contact occurred when the suspect added the victim on social media, pretending to be a 17-year-old boy, in order to lure the victim to his place.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old, resident of Forestburg, Alta., was charged with:

  • Sexual assault while choking;
  • Sexual interference;
  • Invitation to sexual touching; and
  • Luring a child.

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Killam on Feb. 3, 2026.

“We want to thank those who came forth to report this incident as well as the victim for being brave enough to speak with us” said Cpl. Bole of the Killam/Forestburg RCMP. “We also want to take the time to remind everyone that not all is at it seems on the internet and to make sure you are being safe when interacting with people you do not know”.
