Leduc RCMP officer injured during intentional car ramming

Leduc, Alta. – On Dec. 8, 2025, at 10:38 a.m., a member of the Leduc RCMP detachment was making patrols on 50 Avenue in Leduc when the officer was struck from behind by a pick up. Both vehicles entered the ditch, and the suspect attempted to flee.  Despite being injured in the collision, the officer quickly chased down the suspect and took them into custody. The officer was transported to hospital for treatment and has since been released. 

Investigation into the collision has revealed that the suspect accelerated towards and intentionally rammed the officer.

RCMP have charged a 34-year-old, resident of Leduc with;

  • Aggravated assault on a Police Officer;
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Fail to stop at an accident causing bodily harm; and
  • Resist arrest.

They were taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with their next court date set for Dec. 11, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Leduc.

“Since 2023, instances of assault on police with a weapon or causing bodily harm has increased by 23% in the province”, says Inspector Kiel Samotej Detachment Commander Leduc RCMP, “Although violence against police is rising, our officers are trained, equipped, and prepared to respond decisively. The resilience shown by our officers ensures we can continue serving the public with confidence.”
