Westlock RCMP arrest and charge individual for breaking into a local business

Westlock County, Alta. — Westlock RCMP responded to a security alarm company requesting police assistance after multiple alarms were triggered at a local business near the intersection of 108 Avenue and 101 Street, in Westlock. When police arrived, a person was observed inside, and subsequently informed they were under arrest as they exited the business. After a short foot chase with police, the suspect was placed in handcuffs. Upon search incidental to arrest, multiple items were located by police including weapons, break and enter tools and stolen property.
A 22-year-old resident of Westlock, is facing the following charges:
- Break and enter and commit theft under $5000 to a business;
- Possession of break in instruments and tools;
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose;
- Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon;
- Resist / obstruct peace officer; and
- Failure to comply with probation order x4.
They were remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m., on March 9, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert.
