Leduc RCMP advises of highway closure – Update

Leduc, Alta. – On March 14, 2026, around 2:50 p.m., on Highway 2, near Township Road 490, a witness noticed a white/grey dirty pickup truck pull up beside what was later identified as a black 2012 Honda Civic. Moments later, the pickup truck sped off at a high rate of speed and the Honda Civic pulled over to the side of the road. Investigation revealed that a weapon was discharged towards the Honda Civic, resulting in the death of the driver. 

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and is seeking public assistance. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has dashcam footage of Highway 2, near Township Road 490, at around 2:50 p.m., is asked to please come forth.
