Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate dangerous driving, suspect charged

Fort McMurray, Alta – On Mar. 17, 2026, at approximately 6:05 p.m. Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspected impaired driver involved in a motor vehicle collision on Highway 63 at Airport Road, otherwise known as Highway 69, in Fort McMurray. The suspect vehicle, identified as a blue 2022 Dodge Ram Pick up truck had collided with a White Ford F250.
When RCMP arrived at the collision scene, the suspect vehicle was seen departing the area at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 63. The driver of the suspect truck was observed driving into oncoming traffic, into the parking lot of a business, located on Mackenzie Boulevard and became stuck.
RCMP officers were able to arrest the driver without further incident. No injuries were reported from the initial collision.
A 38-year-old, resident of Beaumont, Alta., is facing charges:
- Flight from police
- Refuse to comply with demand
- Failure to stop after accident
- Dangerous operation
The individual was held in police custody for a Judicial Interim Release and has since been released. They are set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Apr. 15, 2026.
