Grande Prairie RCMP investigates and charges an individual for attempted abduction

Grande Prairie, Alta. - On March 21, 2026, at 9:53pm, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report of an attempted abduction. It was reported that an unknown individual followed a 10-year-old who was walking down the road. The victim noticed the suspect was following them and fled inside their friend’s house. The suspect followed them to the door, knocked and tried to convince the homeowner to have the victim come outside, stating that the victim was their sister. The accused then tried to force the door open and was pushed out.
RCMP identified the suspect as 50-year-old a resident of Grande Prairie, who was arrested on March 22, 2026. The suspect has been charged with abduction of a person under 14 years-old and mischief under $5000.
They were brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on April 8, 2026.
