Grande Prairie RCMP responds to armed robbery

Grande Prairie, Alta. - On March 23, 2026, at 2:02 a.m., a local store, Cannabis for Less, was robbed by an individual with a rifle. The individual, who was masked, took a quantity of Canadian currency and cannabis from the store before fleeing in a car.
RCMP quickly located the suspect vehicle parked in a trailer park. Containment was set and Alberta RCMP police dog services was engaged. The suspect attempted to flee the area on foot but was apprehended without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with:
- Robbery with firearm;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Uttering threats;
- Failure to comply with court order (x5);
- Possession of property obtained by crime; and
- Other firearm-relates offences (x4).
They were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on April 8, 2026.
