Airdrie RCMP charge individual after assault with a weapon

Airdrie, Alta. - On March 6, 2026, at 9:30 pm, Airdrie RCMP responded to 911 call from an adult who reported that they had been assaulted by another adult armed with a knife and a firearm inside their residence in a southwest Airdrie neighborhood. The suspect fled the victims residence on foot and was believed to be heading toward 24 Street in Airdrie. En route to the residence, officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect and initiated contact. The suspect was arrested without incident. 

A search of the suspect incidental to arrest resulted in officers seizing a large machete, a loaded handgun, and a large quantity of cannabis. 

A 20-year-old, resident of Edmonton, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Assault with a weapon (machete)
  • 8 additional weapons charges
  • 4 charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The victim was not physically injured in this incident, and the victim and suspect were known to each other. 

The suspect was remanded into custody with their next scheduled appearance before the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on March 26, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
