Rocky Mountain House RCMP lay charges in connection with hotel shooting

Rocky Mountain House, Alta. – On March 21, 2026, Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a report of shots being fired at a hotel in Rocky Mountain House. Upon arrival, RCMP determined that a suspect had fired 5 shots at a mirror in a hotel room. These bullets passed though the wall and into the hallway. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
Through investigation RCMP identified a suspect who was on Parole and quickly issued an arrest warrant. The suspect turned themselves into police the next day.
RCMP have charged a 34-year-old with:
- Recklessly discharging a firearm; and
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The individual was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with their next court date set for April 1, 2026, at the Alberta Court Justice in Rocky Mountain House.
Additionally, their parole was suspended.
