Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide in St. Albert – update

St. Albert, Alta.- The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has laid charges in connection with the Feb. 19, 2026, homicide on Keystone Crescent in St. Albert. The victim has been identified as 59-year-old individual.

On March 9, 2026, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit as well as St. Albert RCMP officers arrested a 44-year-old Edmonton resident. They have been charged with first degree-murder. 

The was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody for future court dates.

On March 12, 2026, Alberta RCMP officers arrested a second suspect, 43-year-old individual in Toronto, Ont. They were charged with indignity to human remains and accessory after the fact to murder. 

The second suspect was remanded and transported back to Alberta where they are held in custody for future court dates. 

“The investigation has determined that the victim was specifically targeted by these suspects for financial gain.” said Staff Sergeant Derrick Gladdish of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit,” through community support and effective collaborative efforts between our Major Crime Unit, St. Albert Detachment members and others, we were able to quickly identify and connect these suspects to this crime.” 

St. Albert RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit would like to thank the public and businesses in St Albert and Edmonton who worked tirelessly gathering and collecting video for the investigators in this case. This effort had a significant impact on the outcome of the investigation.
