Red Deer RCMP charge 3 with drug trafficking

Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) have made multiple arrests for drug trafficking, after a months-long investigation. 

In early Jan. 2026, Red Deer RCMP (GIS) received information that led them to initiate an investigation into drug trafficking.  

Through the investigation, police identified three suspects who were operating as a group to traffic drugs in the Red Deer area. RCMP arrested one of the suspects on Jan. 28, 2026, in the back alley of a residence in Red Deer. On Mar. 3, 20206, the second was arrested at a parking lot in the north end of Red Deer.

The investigation culminated on Mar. 12, 2026, when Red Deer RCMP GIS, along with both Chestermere and Strathmore RCMP, executed a search warrant at a private residence in Chestermere, Alta. The third suspect was located and arrested during the search.

A 27-year-old resident of Calgary, has been charged with three counts of Trafficking of controlled substance. 

The suspect was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 2, 2026.

A 21-year-old resident of Calgary, has been charged with the following: 

  • Trafficking of controlled substance x2;
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.

The 21-year-old was released on an Undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 30, 2026.

A 26-year-old resident of Chestermere, has been charged with the following:

  • Trafficking of controlled substance x5; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime greater than $5,000.

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing, the resident of Chestermere, was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Mar.16, 2026.

As a result of the investigation and search warrant, RCMP seized quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycodone pills, over $32,000 of Canadian currency, as well as other items and materials consistent with drug trafficking.

“Drug trafficking harms our communities in many ways,” says Cst. Andrew Devine, Red Deer RCMP GIS. “The RCMP remain committed to disrupting these activities and removing these dangerous substances from our communities. This outcome highlights the collaborative efforts between our different units and detachments.”
