Red Deer RCMP investigating robbery- update #2

Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP are providing an update and correction into the Mar. 24, 2026, robbery at Sorensen station. 

As a result of the investigation, RCMP determined the victim was followed by the suspects as they walked from Sorensen bus station. The victim was then robbed near 48th Ave. and 50th Street in Red Deer, Alta. 

Three youth’s, all residents of Red Deer, have been arrested and charged. As the youth are under 18, their names cannot be released in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A 13-year-old youth has been charged with one count of Robbery with a knife. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the youth was remanded into custody to appear before the Youth Criminal Court of Justice in Red Deer on Mar. 30, 2026.

Two 15-year-olds youths have also each been charged with Robbery with a knife. Following Judicial Interim Release hearings, both of these youths were released from custody with conditions. One youth is to appear before the Youth Criminal Court of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 9, 2026, while the other youth is to appear on Apr. 16, 2026.
