Fort Chipewyan RCMP investigate aggravated assault, suspect charged

Fort Chipewyan, Alta – On Mar. 29, 2026, at approximately 6:17 a.m., Fort Chipewyan RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Loutit Street. Upon police arrival, an adult victim was located with significant injuries to their face. The suspect was identified and arrested without incident. The victim was initially taken to the Nursing Station and later air lifted to an Edmonton area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

An 18-year-old resident of Fort Chipewyan, is facing charges:

  • Aggravated assault

The individual was held in police custody for a Judicial Interim Hearing and later released on a Release Order with conditions. They are set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Chipewyan on May 7, 2026.
