Redwater RCMP on scene of serious motor vehicle collision - Update

Redwater, Alta. – Redwater RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision reported by another motorist at 5:41 a.m. on April 7, 2026. Two SUV’s travelling on Highway 28, collided head-on near Range Road 223, west of Redwater. A 59-year-old driver, a resident of Edmonton, Alta., and a 64-year-old driver, resident of Radway, Alta., were both declared deceased on scene. Both drivers were sole occupants of their vehicles. Preliminary investigation reveals road and weather conditions are considered to be factors in this double fatal collision.

Redwater Emergency Medical Services, Redwater Fire Services, Sturgeon County Emergency Services, Redwater RCMP and an RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene to assist in this collision. Emergency crews are clear of the scene and travel has resumed on Highway 28.

Redwater RCMP send their condolences to the families and friends of the deceased individuals involved in this tragedy.
