Valleyview RCMP responds to firearms complaint

Valleyview, Alta. - On March 25, 2026, Valleyview RCMP responded to a complaint of shots fired at a residence in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Alta. Two adult males fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and were subsequently arrested at a residence in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation. Later that day, a search warrant was executed in relation to the shooting, with assistance from Western Alberta District General Investigation Section, and the following were seized:
- Firearms;
- Prohibited weapons;
- Ammunition;
- 110 grams of Cocaine;
- 51 grams of Methamphetamine; and
- 269 grams of cutting agent.
As a result of the investigation, two male residents of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation were arrested:
- An 18-year-old individual was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2);
- Reckless discharge of a firearm;
- Possession of property obtained by crime;
- Assault; and
- Mischief.
- A 26-year-old individual was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2);
- Forcible confinement (x2);
- Assault;
- Reckless discharge of a firearm; and
- Possession of property obtained by crime.
Both were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Valleyview, with the 18-year-old appearing on April 13, 2026, and the 26-year-old appearing on April 16, 2026.
