Wood Buffalo RCMP investigation theft over $5000.00 – individual charged

Fort McMurray, Alta – On Mar. 4, 2026, Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a theft of a trailer, parked behind a business in the 400 Block of Gregoire Drive, Fort McMurray. The trailer was stolen at approximately 2:09 a.m., and the contents of the trailer were valued at over $10,0000. 

Surveillance footage was obtained by police. 

The stolen trailer was later located on Stony Mountain Road. 

The subsequent police investigation identified both a suspect and suspect vehicle and on Mar. 8, 2026, Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested an individual in relation to the theft. A search warrant was later executed at a residence on Amaco Road at Gregoire Lake Reserve. As a result of the warrant, Police located and seized several items stolen from the trailer. 

A 38-year-old resident of Gregoire Lake Reserve is facing charges:

  • Theft over $5000.00; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00.

The individual was released from custody on an Undertaking with conditions. They are set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Apr. 15, 2026.
