Airdrie, Alta. – On April 14 and 15, 2026, Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), along with the Alberta Sheriff fugitive apprehension team, completed a joint forces operation focused on targeting wanted fugitives in the City of Airdrie. A mix of RCMP and Sheriff officers hit the streets to conduct investigations and arrest fugitives across Airdrie.
As a result of this project, officers arrested 11 subjects, including a suspect from BC who was on warrant status for 17 charges. As well, 21 warrants were executed, some of which included warrants for serious offences, including sexual assault, assault, criminal harassment, and firearms offences.
Staff Sgt Steve Browne of the Airdrie RCMP states, “This joint operation was highly successful and demonstrates the strength, effectiveness, and capabilities of joint-force enforcement initiatives between our two organizations. Working collaboratively across jurisdictions enhances public safety and ensures offenders are held accountable.”
Darren Thompson, Inspector with the Alberta Sheriffs states, “Strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies are essential to public safety. By working together and sharing key information, we can better identify and target the offenders who pose the greatest risk to our communities. This initiative strengthens those efforts, helping to protect Albertans and ensure serious offenders are held accountable.”
