Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates homicide in Vermilion – Update

Vermilion, Alta. – On April 25, 2026, Vermilion RCMP with the assistance of Alberta RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) made an arrest in relation to the murder of 30-year-old Vermilion resident, Brady Greg Snelgrove, which occurred on Jan. 21, 2026, in Vermilion.
On April 22, 2026, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit were able to secure sufficient evidence to support charges and obtained an arrest warrant for Cole Erich Hill. Investigators determined Hill fled Alberta after Snelgrove’s murder.
With assistance from the public, Sooke and West Shore RCMP Detachments, as well as West Shore Bike Unit, police located and arrested Cole Hill, in Sooke, B.C.
Cole Erich Hill (28) of no fixed address has been charged with second-degree-murder.
Hill was brought before a Justice of the Peace and is remanded into custody in order to transport him back to Alberta where he will again be brought before a Justice of the Peace regarding future court status.
