Rural Campaign

Maskwacis Alta. – On Apr. 29, 2026, The RCMP has teamed up with the Crime Stoppers and their rural sign campaign.  Programs like the Rural Sign Campaign empower residents to take an active role in crime prevention, ensuring that “what they see”, “what they hear” and “what they know” can be shared through anonymous tips. The signs will also be a reminder to all community members that reporting criminal activity is a pro-active way to get criminals off the streets, and that it can be done anonymously.

This will serve as a visual resource to people on assisting the RCMP with investigations current, past and on going. We the RCMP, chiefs and councils want the people of the nations to know this is a successful program and we are looking forward in getting these signs up. The Maskwacis RCMP would like to thank the nations chief and council’s, crime stoppers, and the residents of the nations for their continued support.

“If you know something—about illegal activity, about those causing harm in your community—this is your chance to say something without putting yourself at risk. Even the smallest piece of information can help prevent violence, remove illegal firearms, and protect innocent people.” Inspector Richard Mckay Inspector of Maskwacis.

“We need to continue working with the RCMP and provide the information of your observations” Chief SADDLEBACK Samson Nation.

“Crime Stoppers will work with the rural jurisdictions and indigenous communities to place these signs in high traffic locations.  “We are a Crime Stoppers Community” sign will proudly display that safety and security are of utmost importance to the community, along with not attending court and remaining anonymous.” said A/Cpl Catlin Chiasson Maskwacis Information officer.

As a result, several signs have been installed within Maskwacis.

Should you know information of a crime and want to remain anonymous, please call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
