Red Deer RCMP on scene of residential fire – Update #2

Red Deer, Alta. – On May 1, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Red Deer RCMP was called to a structure fire at a residential complex in Red Deer on 50 Avenue, south of 42 St.  Red Deer Fire and Emergency Services were on scene and had contained the fire which was in one unit of the building. 

Once it was safe to enter, a deceased person, believed to be a 34-year-old was located inside. An autopsy is schedule for today, May 4, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary. 

The fire is not believed to be suspicious; however, the investigation continues. 

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
