Lloydminster RCMP seek public assistance after multiple attempted vehicle thefts

Lloydminster, Alta. - On April 30, 2026, Lloydminster RCMP received several reports of vehicles being damaged in a similar manner. In each occurrence, a window is broken to gain entry in an attempt to then steal the vehicle. At this time, all vehicles targeted have been Hyundai models. These police investigations remain ongoing, and police seeking public assistance in order to identify those responsible.
Lloydminster RCMP are urging the public to take preventative measures to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of this type of crime. Residents are encouraged to:
- Consider steering column lock mechanisms (ie/‘The Club’);
- Ensure vehicles are always locked;
- Do not leave valuables or keys inside vehicles;
- Keep things out of sight, and/or secured and locked in glove box or in the trunk;
- Consider installing front and rear dash cameras;
- Consider installing surveillance security cameras on your personal property where the vehicle is parked;
- Consider installing aftermarket immobilizers and/or GPS tracking devices;
- Park in well-lit areas when possible; and
- Report any suspicious persons or activity immediately to your local police.
Anyone with information about these incidents, or who may have dash camera footage, or surveillance footage, that shows a vehicle’s window being broken by a suspect, is asked to contact the Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400.
