Grande Prairie GIS makes arrest in firearm investigation

Grande Prairie, Alta. – On Nov. 10, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP and Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) members responded to shots being fired in an alleyway near 100 Avenue and 96th Street in the City of Grande Prairie. The injured individual received life altering injuries, leaving them paralyzed. Grande Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) took carriage of the investigation, with assistance from Grande Prairie RCMP General Duty members and Forensic Identification Section, as well as GPPS. After a lengthy investigation, they were able to identify the suspect and obtain a warrant for their arrest.

As a result of the investigation a 34-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with: 

  • Aggravated assault;
  • Discharge firearm with intent;
  • Using firearm in the commission of an offence;
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm; and
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to order (x3).

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are  to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 20, 2026.
