WAD CRU makes arrest after traffic stop leads to drug bust

Whitecourt, Alta. – On April 30, 2026, Western Alberta District (WAD) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), with assistance from Whitecourt RCMP, conducted a traffic stop in the Whitecourt area. The traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the two people within the vehicle and a search of the vehicle incidental to arrest revealed approximately 269 grams of cocaine and 152 grams of methamphetamine. 

As a result of the investigation a 44-year-old resident of Fox Creek, Alta., and a 33-year-old resident of Whitecourt, were charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. Furthermore, the 33-year-old was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with failure to comply with a court order.

They were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody while first individual was released on conditions. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie, with the second individual appearing May 11, 2026, and the first appearing on July 14, 2026.
