Chestermere RCMP investigates fatal collision

Chestermere, Alta. - On May 6, 2026, at approximately 8 a.m., Chestermere RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at Highway 1 and Range Road 281, east of Chestermere. 

Unfortunately, a 73-year-old driver of one of the vehicles succumbed to their injuries on scene. The 19-year-old  driver of the second vehicle was transported to a Calgary hospital via ambulance where she was treated for their injuries. 

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist from the Southern Alberta District assisted in this investigation, which remains ongoing.

Chestermere RCMP extends their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
