Lloydminster RCMP makes an arrest after receiving firearm-related calls

Lloydminster, Alta. – On May 6, 2026, around 8:37 a.m., Lloydminster RCMP received several complaints describing a male pointing a firearm pointing the weapon at vehicles, including a school bus. Lloydminster RCMP responded immediately, assisted by Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Unit and Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services. The area was briefly shut down while units arrested the suspect. An imitation firearm was seized as a result.

The matter remains under investigation. The individual was released on conditions to appear before the Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 6, 2026. Charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose are being considered.

Lloydminster RCMP would like to thank the public for calling it in, allowing them to respond quickly and efficiently. Lloydminster RCMP would also like to inform the public that there is no ongoing danger in relation to this incident.
