Cold Lake RCMP makes arrest in vehicle theft investigation

Cold Lake, Alta. – On May 4, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Cold Lake RCMP started an investigation regarding a stolen vehicle located at a commercial establishment in Cold Lake South. Based on the investigation, police identified several individuals who had been in possession of the stolen vehicle and conducted the arrests. 

A search of the occupants and the vehicle incidental to arrest revealed approximately 100 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 200 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, and other paraphernalia consistent in drug trafficking. Three Big Island, SK, residents have been charged with offences in relation to this investigation.

First individual 35-year-old, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of a controlled substance;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition;
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle; and
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Second individual a 47-year-old, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition;
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle;
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and
  • Possession of a controlled substance.

Third individual a 39-year-old has been charged with:

  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition;
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and
  • Possession of a controlled substance.

The first and second individuals were brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on May 7, 2026. The third individual was released from custody, to appear same court on June 17, 2026.
