Hinton RCMP arrests impaired driver

Hinton, Alta. - On April 29, 2026, Hinton RCMP received a report stating that a plumber who had been hired to do work at a residence appeared to be drunk. RCMP was provided with a picture of the vehicle and the license plate. Hinton RCMP were able to locate the vehicle in town, identify the driver and conduct a traffic stop.
The suspect failed an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. They were also arrested on their outstanding warrant from Calgary police for similar charges.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old, was charged with:
- Impaired operation of a conveyance;
- Operate a conveyance while prohibited;
- Use a forged document; and
- Fraudulently personate another person.
They were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on May 20, 2026.
