Wood Buffalo RCMP respond to break and enter in progress

Fort McMurray, Alta – On Apr. 30, 2026 at approximately 11:22 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP officers responded to a report of a break and enter at Noral Toyota, located on MacDonald Avenue, in the downtown area of Fort McMurray.
Upon police arrival, an exterior door was observed damaged, and an individual was located inside the business, holding several vehicle keys in their hands.
When RCMP officers arrested the individual, they resisted officers and attempted to disarm one officer of their TASER. Additional officers attended the scene, and they were able to safely secure the individual without further incident.
A 53-year-old resident of Fort McMurray, is facing charges:
- Break and enter;
- Mischief;
- Disarming a police officer; and
- Resist arrest x 2.
They were held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing and has since been released from Police custody. They are set to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on May 27, 2026.
